Ariel returns to Once Upon a Time

The Little Mermaid herself, Ariel, will be joining the heroes on Once Upon a Time as they embark on their new quest.

According to an exclusive report by Entertainment Weekly, JoAnna Garcia Swisher will be reprising her role as Ariel in the ABC fairy tale drama.

The last time we saw her character she was helping Ursula (Merrin Dungey) reconcile with her father Poseidon (Ernie Hudson) in the fourth season of the show during the Queens of Darkness arc.

Once Upon a Time executive producers Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis told EW:

“Ariel returns and meets Princess Jasmine (Karen David) as they join Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) on an adventure as he and Emma (Jennifer Morrison) face a daunting challenge that requires a big-time princess team-up.”

The mid-season finale of Once Upon a Time left the main characters in the midst of numerous dilemmas: Emma and Regina (Lana Parrilla) are stuck in the wish realm and have crossed paths with Robin Hood (Sean Maguire); Belle (Emilie de Ravin) and Rumple (Robert Carlyle) have to somehow save their son Gideon (Giles Matthey) from the vicious influence of the Black Fairy (Jaime Murray); and then Hook and David (Josh Dallas) need to reach out to Emma and Regina while also figuring out a way to prevent Emma’s impending doom. Lots of work to be done and it looks like the Storybrooke crew will need all the help they can get.

So don’t miss Once Upon a Time when the show returns in March on ABC.
