Directed by Jon Watts (Clown), Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland in the titular role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man, as well as returning faces Robert Downey Jr. and Marisa Tomei as Tony Stark and Aunt May respectively. Using Jimmy Kimmel LIVE! as their outlet, Marvel Studios has unveiled the first official trailer for the upcoming film and it looks like everything we’ve hoped it would be.
A joint effort from Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, Spider-Man: Homecoming will see Holland’s Peter Parker deal with the perils of high school while continuously trying to prove himself as a potential Avenger. He will go up against the classic Spider-Man villain, The Vulture, played by Michael Keaton, a character who has yet to appear in a big screen Spider-Man film. Others coming along for the ride include Jacob Batalon as Peter’s best friend Ned Leeds, who shares characteristics of the Ultimate Spider-Man character Ganke Lee, and Zendaya (K.C. Undercover) as fellow schoolmate Michelle. Other confirmed actors include Jon Favreau returning as Iron Man‘s Happy Hogan and Donald Glover (Community, Atlanta) in an as-of-yet undisclosed role.
Played to the tune of “Time To Pretend” by MGMT, the trailer features a good blend of humor, heart, and action. Check out the official trailer below as well as the slightly different international trailer following it and feel free to let us know what you think in the comments.
