assassins-creed-poster-220th Century Fox has released a 2nd trailer for their upcoming video game adaptation Assassin’s Creed. Directed by Justin Kurzel (Macbeth) with a screenplay by Allegiant writers Bill Collage and Adam Cooper, Assassin’s Creed stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Ariane Labed, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Jeremy Irons.

The film follows Fassbender’s Callum Lynch, a descendant of a member of Assassins, as he explores the genetic memories of his ancestor Aguilar during the time of the Spanish Inquisition through a machine called the Animus.

The new trailer for the upcoming film gives us more information about the Animus, how it works and how real it feels when in use. Additionally, we see that the facility to which Lynch is taken includes others who are seemingly held there for similar reasons. As the trailer concludes we see that a battle will ensue in the present day between Lynch and the other assassins against what may be the Templars: a powerful, corrupt organization at odds with the Assassins.

Assassin’s Creed opens in theaters December 21, 2016. Check out the trailer below and feel free to let us know what you think in the comments.
