Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is first of 5 films

Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them CastJ.K. Rowling has announced that Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them will be a series of 5 films.

During a global event where the first ten minutes of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was shown, author J.K. Rowling also announced that, as opposed to the trilogy that was previously planned, this will be a series of five films, BBC reports.

Rowling discussed this in more detail, saying:

“We always knew it was going to be more than one movie, and we said a trilogy as a place holder. But I’ve done the plotting properly and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be five movies.”

Star Eddie Redmayne expressed his admiration for Rowling, saying that she

“has the most extraordinary imagination of our generation and she has created something entirely different. That world is spilling out of her head in a unique way.”

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is set decades before the beginning of the Harry Potter series and it chronicles the adventures of Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne), a magi-zoologist who arrives in 1920s New York with a case full of magical (and dangerous) creatures. When some of these escape his case, he needs to contend with the consequences.

The film also explores the magical society in America and how witches and wizards need to maintain secrecy to avoid issues with the No-Majes, American Muggles who fear what they do not understand.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be out in theaters on November 18, 2016.
