First it was announced that the third solo Wolverine film, taking place in 2024, would simply be titled Logan (it was confirmed with a poster reveal by actor Hugh Jackman himself). Now we have new information on who Wolverine will go up against, as well as a casting update regarding ally Laura Kinney/X-23.
According to sources, young actor/gymnast Sienna Novikov will portray X-23 in the upcoming film, a female clone of Wolverine. We can safely assume it’s her hand grasping Logan’s in the first official movie poster, as Logan will serve as a mentor to her in the film.
Additionally, at least one of the film’s main antagonists has been revealed as Donald Pearce, played by Boyd Holbrook (Narcos). This update was revealed via @wponx on Instagram, which also features other teaser images from the upcoming film.
Game of Thrones actor Richard E. Grant will be playing Dr. Zander Rice. Rice is described as a “mad scientist” in charge of “Transigen”; a government organization set on turning mutant children into weapons, most likely including X-23.
Logan is scheduled for theatrical release March 3, 2017 and will be rated R, following the success of 20th Century Fox’s R-Rated 2016 hit Deadpool. Check out a few teaser images from the upcoming film below from @wponx on Instagram, one of which is R-Rated, and feel free to let us know your thoughts in the comments.
