the-punisherMarvel’s The Punisher has begun filming, according to an announcement made at the Marvel’s Iron Fist New York Comic Con 2016 panel.

IGN reports that The Punisher himself, Jon Bernthal, made a surprise appearance on stage with Marvel producer Jeph Loeb, and the latter revealed that production began October 3. It was also announced that Deborah Ann Woll (True Blood), who had starred in the first two seasons of Daredevil as Karen Page, would be a part of the Punisher’s solo series.

Woll expressed her excitement about joining the show:

What Frank [Castle] and Karen got to do last year was some of my favorite stuff.

Marvel’s The Punisher was previously announced as a solo series after the character appeared in the second season of Daredevil and played a significant role opposite Matt Murdock.

Bernthal talked more about the character and the upcoming show during the panel, saying:

I believe in Frank and his journey and I’m fascinated by it…And to fans of the comics, members of law enforcement and members of the military, I’m just so grateful we get to tell another chapter. I give you my word on behalf of this cast and this crew we’ll do our very best.

Recently, two new cast members were added to Marvel’s The Punisher: Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Amber Rose Revah.
