“The end is about to begin,” says Jack Rackham (Toby Schmitz) in the Black Sails final season trailer. Excuse me, Jack, but I want to continue to be in denial about this show ending until at least halfway through the new season.
This weekend at New York Comic Con, the cast and creators not only talked about the series’ final season and what to expect from it, they also revealed the season four trailer!
Straight away in the trailer, we’re instantly engulfed with this ominous feeling that this is in fact the end of the show. A close-up shot is depicted of each of our favorite main characters (Eleanor!) while the quote, “Right now, good men are not what the moment requires. Right now, the time calls for dark men to do dark things.” is said.
These dark men described are in fact our main characters, Flint, Rackham, Silver, and the like. Because on this show, everyone is a mixture of good and evil. “…There will be vengeance for the death of Charles Vane,” Rackham states, and boy will there be. The majority of the trailer consists of fight scenes between pretty much everyone, whether that be via cannons, swords, or hand-to-hand combat. The one man that can save everyone from this madness seems to be the one we least expected from the very beginning: John Silver. “I’m here to free the New World,” he states.
