Expect More ‘Malec’ Scenes in Shadowhunters’ Second Season!

When Shadowhunters was first announced, everyone’s excitement and attention was focused on seeing Magnus Bane and Alec Lightwood’s relationship explored in more detail in the hour-long television series. The highly anticipated twelfth episode titled “Malec” aired, and everyone lost their minds over it!

Seems like clear skies for this ship’s journey!

Based on first look of the second season alone (thanks to Entertainment Weekly), we’ll be seeing much more of Malec. The eye contact and hand holding, guys!

Newly acquired producer/show-runner Todd Slavkin (also joining is Darren Swimmer) had lots to say about the pair.

“Because of the complications in the end of season 1 and Jace now being gone, we get to really show the evolution of the relationship from the beginning. They’ve got to learn to know each other and we get to follow that path. They’re from such two different worlds — one’s a warlock, one’s a shadowhunter. One is super experienced and has lived for centuries and has bedded many, many, many men and women, and here’s Alec, who is a young lad who’s just leaping into the world of relationships. We thought it was great in season 1, and it’s a relationship that we’re deeply invested in and has such interesting potential.”

Thank you Slavkin, you pretty much summed up what I love about Malec, and how I can’t wait to see what they have in store come the second season.
