A first glimpse has been released of the upcoming adventure film, Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth film in the epic franchise, including a short teaser and an official poster.
The short clip is dark and foreboding, showing a stormy sea, skeletal ghost-pirates terrorizing frightened sailors, and a ship under siege from a mysterious villain. Lots of fog and fire as this creepy new villain and his slimy army gather around some hapless sailors while chilling music plays in the background.
Johnny Depp’s iconic character, Captain Jack Sparrow, unfortunately doesn’t make an appearance in the teaser but he is, as usual for a Pirates of the Caribbean film, being hunted by a supernatural marine entity in the creepy and slimy form of Captain Salazar (played by Javier Bardem.)
“Find Sparrow for me,” he whispers menacingly, “and relay a message from Capitan Salazar, and tell him: Death will go straight for him. Would you say that to him, please?”
Jack has clearly found himself once more on the wrong side of a most formidable foe.
The teaser ends with the image from the poster, skull and crossbones adorned with gold and other trinkets that remind us of Jack Sparrow himself. Will this be the chapter where he finally meets his match? We’ll have to wait a while to find out.
Not a lot of details have been revealed about the story of Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales but from the limited information released, we know that joining Depp and Bardem in the cast will be Breton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, as well as veteran cast members Geoffrey Rush and Orlando Bloom, reprising their roles as Hector Barbossa and Will Turner respectively.
Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales is set to be released on May 26, 2017.
