The Chronicles of Narnia star Ben Barnes has joined the cast of Netflix’s The Punisher series.
According to a report by TV Line, the British actor, who is known for playing Prince (and eventually King) Caspian in The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, is the latest addition to the cast of the upcoming solo television series for Marvel’s The Punisher.
The character (real name: Frank Castle), played by Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead), was first introduced in the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil as a violent vigilante who crosses paths and clashes with Matt Murdock. And it was announced shortly after this that the Punisher would get his own standalone series, though details have been scarce. Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal, Casualty) will be serving as showrunner and a teaser image has also been released.
Although no official announcement has been made about the character Barnes will be playing in the series, TV Line has hinted that he might be portraying a major antagonist, corrupt criminal Bobby Saint. For his American television credits, Barnes has previously starred as Sam Adams on the historical miniseries Sons of Liberty. He will also be appearing in the upcoming HBO sci-fi series, Westworld.
The Punisher will be the sixth collaboration between Marvel and Netflix, following two seasons of Daredevil, the first season of Jessica Jones, and the upcoming Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.
