Last week actor/director Ben Affleck revealed a bit test footage teasing the appearance of the DC Comics villain Deathstroke in Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming Batman solo film. In an interview with writer & executive producer Geoff Johns it has been confirmed that True Blood star Joe Manganiello will play Deathstroke in the film.

This wouldn’t be the first time Manganiello portrayed a comic book character on the big screen. In addition to his roles in True Blood and the Magic Mike films, Manganiello’s second credited role was that of Flash Thompson in the Sam Raimi-directed Spider-Man (2000).

Deathstroke was most recently seen in live-action form on The CW series Arrow played by Manu Bennett (SpartacusThe Shannara Chronicles) and in animated form in the film Son of Batman voiced by Thomas Gibson (Criminal Minds).

According to The Wall Street Journal, who broke the story, Geoff Johns did not confirm if the character would make a cameo in 2017’s Justice League nor did he confirm the theatrical release date of the Affleck-directed Batman film.

So, what do you think of this latest casting update? Do you think Manganiello has what it takes to play Slade Wilson/Deathstroke on the big screen? Sound off and let us know in the comments.
