Ben Affleck, director and star of Warner Bros.’ upcoming Batman film, dropped a bombshell of a post this morning of what appears to be test footage of the DC Villain Deathstroke. It is now being reported by numerous sources that Deathstroke will indeed be the antagonist in Affleck’s solo Batman film or may even appear in 2017’s Justice League. The footage, which can be seen on Affleck’s Facebook and Twitter profiles, sees the character walk slowly toward the camera and stare with his one good left eye.
Created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez in 1980, Slade Wilson/Deathstroke made his first appearance in New Teen Titans #2. Since then he has been a longstanding DC Comics villain making appearance in comics, television, and animated films. Deathstroke was recently the main antagonist in the animated DC film, Son of Batman, and also faced off against Oliver Queen in The CW’s second season of Arrow.
Affleck’s Batman film is still in early stages of development, so no official confirmation of who will be playing Deathstroke on the big screen has been given. As of right now you can check out a few still images of the character in action below. His costume bears some resemblance to that of Manu Bennett’s Deathstroke on Arrow, but is ultimately different and still looks true to the source material. What do you think? Would you like to see Deathstroke go up against Batman on the big screen? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
