We have received some shocking news, Shadowhunters fans! Courtesy of Deadline, it has been revealed that show-runner and executive producer Ed Decter has left the show.
With Shadowhunters currently in the early stages of season two pre-production, this comes as a complete shock to not only the fans, but everyone involved. Apparently, Decter departed from the supernatural series a few days prior, as he was not at yesterday’s first table read for the second season. Speculation for his departure has to do with creative differences. Ed was giving numerous amount of interviews around the time of the season finale in April, so clearly he was looking forward working on the show.
Production on the second season of Shadowhunters will continue as planned. A replacement for his contribution to the show has not been filled at this time.
How is everyone feeling about this news? Will our beloved show be drastically different come the premiere of season two?
Freeform’s hit new show, Shadowhunters, had quite the eventful couple of weeks. First it won the Best New Fandom Award at the MTV Fandom Awards. This was followed by a two award win at last weekend’s Teen Choice Awards. The cast walked away with giant surfboards for Choice Breakout Show and Choice TV Breakout Star (Matthew Daddario, beating out co-star Katherine McNamara).
Production on the series is currently underway and new episodes are expected to air in early 2017.
