Watch The Walking Dead Season 7 Comic Con Trailer

The Walking Dead King EzekielA new clip for the upcoming season of The Walking Dead has been released at the San Diego Comic Con, featuring more of Negan, more gruesome walkers, and some new characters.

The three-minute trailer features dramatic flashbacks for each of the main characters who could be a potential victim of Negan’s barbed-wire wrapped bat, Lucille. The last season ended at a tense cliffhanger with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s villain poised to kill one of the people before him. And as the trailer lingers on each person, no clue is given as to who is ultimately chosen.

The rest of the clip shows scenes from the upcoming seventh season of The Walking Dead, with characters like Morgan (Lenny James) and Carol (Melissa McBride) off on their own adventure while Negan continues his reign of terror. There is also a first glimpse of a new character from the comics: King Ezekiel, played by Khary Payton.

According to Variety, during The Walking Dead panel, executive producer Robert Kirkman was asked about that frustrating season finale and how the seventh season would live up to the hype. Kirkman said:

“It’s definitely worth the wait… It’s a fantastic premiere to a fantastic season.”

Another topic discussed during the panel was the new relationship between Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira), which Variety cites “became one of the most high profile interracial relationships on TV.”

Executive producer Scott Gimple said:

“I wasn’t aware that it would have the impact that it did…I think one of the things we fantasize about the apocalypse is that all of the things that separate us fall away.”

Gurira added:

“Sometimes to change the picture that you usually see on screen can ruffle people, because it’s change….I hope and believe that it will help break that barrier and allow more of those portrayals to be expressed.”

The seventh season of The Walking Dead will premiere on October 23 on AMC.
