American Gods teaserThe first clip for the upcoming television adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods was released at the San Diego Comic Con.

The American Gods panel was moderated by Yvette Nicole Brown and included various members of the cast: Ricky Whittle (Shadow Moon), Ian McShane (Mr. Wednesday), Pablo Schreiber (Mad Sweeney), Yetide Badaki (Bilquis), and Bruce Langley (Technical Boy), as well as showrunners Bryan Fuller, Michael Green, director David Slade, and author Neil Gaiman. Kristin Chenoweth also made a special appearance as it was announced that she would be joining the show as Easter, formerly known as Ostara, the goddess of spring.

Chenoweth will be reuniting with Bryan Fuller after previously working with him on Pushing Daisies, on a role which earned her two Emmy Award nominations, and one win in 2009.

American Gods is about an ex-con named Shadow Moon who becomes embroiled in a conflict between powerful deities after he becomes the bodyguard to the enigmatic Mr. Wednesday. The trailer shows Shadow meeting Wednesday and getting pulled into a world of forces he never knew existed.

“Seems you have a choice,” declares the mysterious Mr. Wednesday in the trailer, “either the world is crazy, or you are.”

American Gods will air on Starz in 2017.
