As Variety reports, Cheo Hodari Coker, the showrunner for the upcoming Netflix series Marvel’s Luke Cage, has some insightful thoughts about the show.
Cage (played by Mike Colter) will be the first African-American superhero starring as the main character of a Marvel series or movie. And Coker pointed out at Comic-Con that the character is very timely. He said:
“There aren’t a lot of African-American superheros. I’ve been reading comics since I was eight or nine years old. Luke Cage stood out.”
Added Coker, “When I think about what’s going on in the world right now, the world is ready for a bulletproof black man.”
I would agree. What about you? Share your thoughts in the comments below. Luke Cage will be available to stream starting September 30 on Netflix. Meanwhile, you can watch the latest teaser trailer here.
