With the J.J. Abrams-produced Star Trek films continuing to be successes in theaters, CBS is now ready to bring the franchise back to television. At this year’s San Diego Comic-Con CBS has unveiled the first official teaser for the upcoming series entitled Star Trek: Discovery.
The series is still in early stages of development and the casting process is still happening, but we now have a look at the federation starship set to take flight in the upcoming series. Star Trek: Discovery will follow the crew of the U.S.S. Discovery, but it’s undetermined when this series will take place in relation to its movie counterparts.
Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere on CBS in January 2017, with all subsequent episodes to air on CBS All Access. Check out the first teaser for Star Trek: Discovery below and feel free to let us know what you think of the U.S.S. Discovery in the comments.
