Members of the Game of Thrones cast nominated for Emmy acting awards expressed their excitement and surprise at the nominations.
Game of Thrones bagged the most nominations at this year’s Emmy Awards, including several for acting categories.
Six members of the cast are up for Emmy’s:
Max Von Sydow (Three-Eyed Raven) as Best Guest Actor
Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) as Best Supporting Actor
Kit Harington (Jon Snow) as Best Supporting Actor
Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) as Best Supporting Actress
Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) as Best Supporting Actress
Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) as Best Supporting Actress
While Dinklage, Headey, and Clarke are veteran nominees, with Dinklage already winning twice, it was the first time for Kit Harington and Maisie Williams to be nominated for their work on the show.
Both actors expressed their delight and excitement at the news, as reported by IGN. Harington released a statement:
“It is a serious understatement to say that I am somewhat stunned. For my work on Game of Thrones to be recognized in this way is an emotional moment for me. I could not be more humbled.”
Williams discovered the news as it was tweeted by the official Game of Thrones account, and she reacted amazingly:

Later, she released an official statement that said:
“I am so grateful to be a part of Game of Thrones, so to be nominated for an Emmy is beyond words, but I would like to say thank you to George for creating such an amazing character and to Dan, David and everyone associated with the show who bring Arya to life.”
Lena Headey also gave her official reaction to the news:
“Totally overwhelmed. Thrilled for the show receiving so many nominations…. Wahoo !”
Game of Thrones is nominated for 23 categories in this year’s Emmy Awards, the most for any show this year.
