With the success of the Jessica Jones franchise Alias comics were tracked down by fans in droves eager to know more about their favorite character’s off screen life. It seems our favorite writes are also eager to shed some light and are doing so in a new series. Just in time for the 15th anniversary.
Yep, you read that right. Killgrave isn’t making you believe anything out of the ordinary right now. Alias is coming back for a brand new series. It even has the original creative team! Brian Michael Bendis, Michael Gaydos and David Mack are all returning! The new series coined Jessica Jones will be released under the Marvel Now headline.
Revealing this news with IGN Bendis said, “Jessica’s world has blown up in her face. She’s at a place you’ll lease expect her.” This doesn’t bode well for our favorite bad ass. Especially with the changes it seemed she was trying to make. One of the best things about Alias was the mystery type construct that left readers wondering just exactly what happened to Jessica as the story unraveled. Jessica Jones will also take on that aspect promising, “you’re going to find all of her relationships have altered. And we’re slowly going to find out why.”
Fans of the comics know that by the time Jessica’s story was coming to an end in Alias and The Pulse that she held an unknown future ahead of her. A future which seems to only get darker during her appearances in the Marvel universe. Thankfully this will not be ignored. Nope, you will be getting a Jessica Jones altered by the ties that bind in motherhood.
In these issues, the realities of raising a child with a former avenger in a dangerous world seem to be on Jessica’s mind. “Your perspective changes, and as an investigator and a detective her perspective will chance because she’s a mother,” said Bendis. But don’t worry that Danielle will become some sidekick, Bendis went on to say, “I can think of many ways to tell the story celebrate this part of her life and at the same time complicates it to a degree that a lot of people can relate to. I think a lot of people can relate to trying to do it all.” Maybe this means we’ll see Jessica getting into it with a baby sitter or even Luke who was supposed to be home because she had to uncover some secrets.
