Game of Thrones finale photos released

Game of Thrones S6 FinaleSix new photos have been released for the Game of Thrones season six finale, entitled “The Winds of Winter”, showing the return of the Freys and the trial of Loras Tyrell, according to IGN.

We see several characters at important turning points in the story. The High Sparrow is ready to make Loras Tyrell face his crimes while Tommen is also preparing for the the trial. We catch a glimpse of Bran Stark lying under a tree (What has he been up to for the past few episodes? We’re going to find out.)

One particularly intriguing photo shows Jaime Lannister in conversation with Walder Frey. The promo has a scene where the latter gleefully says, “The Freys and the Lannisters send their regards!” while Jaime looks on with an unreadable expression on his face. This all begs the question: what is Jaime even doing with the Freys? After winning back Riverrun he should have headed straight back to King’s Landing, but for some reason he took a detour at the Twins first. Is this a reprise of the Red Wedding?

Game of Thrones S6 FinaleShould we be worried about Jaime Lannister or should we be cheering him on? After all, he didn’t seem to think much of the Freys and after his brief meeting with Brienne, he was reminded of how they betrayed Catelyn Stark. And he made a promise to Edmure Tully to bring him his son with Roslyn Frey. So many questions and only one episode left of Game of Thrones this year for fans to freak out about.

The promo also shows Davos Seaworth angrily confronting Melisandre about Shireen Baratheon’s death last season, and urging her to tell Jon Snow about it (and probably about how Shireen’s sacrifice facilitated his resurrection.)

Another photo shows Daenerys Targaryen and Tyrion Lannister in deep conversation. In the promo, Tyrion asks her if she is afraid.

“You’re in the great game now,” he tells the queen, “and the great game is terrifying.”

The Game of Thrones season six finale airs on Sunday on HBO.
