Scream S2 E1- I Know What You Did Last Summer

“I took this job to see free movies and rock a cool vest. Not to have a triggering prank pulled on me.”

Kieran and Emma’s relationship is definitely on the rocks. They broke up during Emma’s time away, but are trying to get back into the swing of things, and they’re adjusting. It’s obviously hard for Emma to get back into her old lifestyle after everything she’s been through. The girl can’t even have normal dreams! No, she has a weirdly lit sepia toned nightmare that finds her at a strange pig farm. A younger version of herself appears, and well – a dead pig.

Who does this pig farm belong to? Brandon James’ brother, as Noah later explains. What we definitely know is who is currently being tortured inside of it: the Jake. Dude thinks he’s going to prove his love for Brooke and their romantic problems will subside. Instead, he gets caught in a bear trap and led to Killer 2.0’s secret barn of torture. I’m just going to rip off the band-aid on this one and not drag out explaining the Jake’s demise like Killer 2.0 totally would. Killer 2.0 tortures the Jake for pretty much the entire episode. This includes knocking him unconscious heaps of times, and forcing him back into the killer enclosure after he manages to escape. And we can’t forget his demise.

When MTV first explained that Scream’s second season would be airing at 11/10c, I was a tad worried about ratings (turns out I was right). But perhaps MTV made the time change to include more gore? Jake’s death is a gruesome one. Similar to his BFF Will’s, Jake gets sliced in half. But this one is from groin to head, ouch.

“What do you mean about 20 lgbtq+ TV characters have died in 2016 alone? I can’t be next!”

Last season, Emma was the Killer’s focal point for terror. Now it’s Audrey’s turn. What starts as cryptic texts from an unknown number, turns into leaving the letters Piper and Audrey sent one another taped to a bathroom stall. Killer 2.0 knows Audrey was Piper’s accomplice and they’re not going to let her forget about it. Audrey Jensen, you are not going to have a happy season, I can tell. But Bex Taylor Klaus, you are going to give us such a great performance and I cannot wait.

Not believing in the saying that “curiosity killed the cat”, Emma ventures to Troy James’ barn to figure out why she’s been dreaming about it since she was a kid. Because there’s safety in numbers, she makes Brooke go. The barn itself is “normal”, but the house has Emma spooked. Inside are childhood photos of the final girl, furniture, and the mask wearing Killer 2.0 in the flesh! The second season premiere episode of Scream ends with a scream, and lots of questions on our end. Who is Killer 2.0 and why are they hassling Audrey so much? When will everyone realize Jake’s dead? And who’s going to survive this time around versus fall victim to the Killer’s knife?

What did everyone think of Scream, 2.01: “I Know What You Did Last Summer”?

If you’re a fan of after-shows where cast, writers, and a host discuss the weekly episode (sometimes in a hilarious way), you’ll love Scream After Dark. Walking Dead has one, Orphan Black recently received one, and even their fellow MTV show, Teen Wolf, has one! Hosted by Jeffery Self, Scream After Dark definitely takes the comedic approach to the otherwise dark show. I’d definitely give it a watch. Episodes do not appear to be weekly (it’s explained that the next episode will most likely air in July). It’s lovely see the hilarious and goofy cast behind our favorite characters. Check out the opening credits to Scream After Dark. (I don’t understand why they can’t just make this Scream’s actual opening credits. I’d jam out to it every week).

The season preview trailer of Scream has so much content in this one minute that I don’t even know where to begin. Even though Audrey’s the Killer 2.0’s number one target, Emma still seems to be going through the ringer. Poor Brooke crying in the pool (possibly when she finds about Jake’s death?). And the one that I’m personally freaking out over, the Audrey/Noah/Zoe kiss. I have to know how that plays out!

Prior to the show’s premiere, each main character made an “if I die” video, leaving messages for their loved ones after their death. I thought it would be fitting to leave Jake’s video. “Don’t be the new Jake, be like the new Jake.”

Lakewood Body Count:

  • Tyler O’Neill
  • Nina Patterson
  • Rachel Murray
  • Riley Marra
  • Will Belmont
  • Sheriff Clark Hudson
  • Piper Shaw
  • Jake Fitzgerald

Kelly’s Killer 2.0 Suspects:

  • Gustavo Acosta: Disregarding the bloody graphic he drew of Emma in Psych class, he’s on the list because of his almost obsessive behavior he has towards the ‘Lakewood Six’. He seems to know everything about them. With his family being originally from Lakewood, this gives him potential motive (and maybe his father, too?) to finish where Piper left off.
  • Zoe Vaughn: We can’t be fooled by her nice demeanor. She could be a crazed killer mastermind for all we know.
