New Game of Thrones photos and finale details

Game of Thrones season 6 episode 8Promotional photos for the next episode of Game of Thrones show Cersei facing off against the Faith Militant, while the titles for the last two episodes have also been revealed.

According to a report by IGN, the upcoming Game of Thrones episode, entitled “No One”, will finally feature the tense scene from the trailer where Cersei chooses violence as she and the reanimated Gregor Clegane challenge the followers of the Faith Militant. It looks like the big, bloody conflict between the faith and the crown is finally going to take place in the episode.

The three Lannister siblings look like they will be busy dealing with various challenges, based on the episode’s vague description:

“While Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) weighs his options, Cersei (Lena Headey) answers a request. Tyrion’s (Peter Dinklage) plans bear fruit. Arya (Maisie Williams) faces a new test.”

Game of Thrones season 6 episode 8Additionally, the last two episode titles have been confirmed by HBO, according to EW.

The penultimate episode will be called “The Battle of the Bastards”, which is a pretty clear indication of what this episode will cover. We’ve been teased about the biggest battle scene the show has ever done, and since the most significant events (Ned’s death, the Red Wedding) have taken place in penultimate episodes of Game of Thrones seasons, this might well be the case. This episode will run for 60 minutes.

The season finale will be called “The Winds of Winter”, also the title of the as yet unpublished sixth novel in George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series. The finale will apparently run for 69 minutes, the longest Game of Thrones episode to date, and most likely full of major revelations, considering how eventful the season has been so far.

Game of Thrones season six airs Sundays on HBO.
