The HBO sci-fi show, Westworld, which is based on the 70s classic thriller film, finally has a release date.
According to an article by The Guardian, HBO announced that Westworld will premiere this fall along with the new Sarah Jessica Parker series, Divorce, and the former web series, High Maintenance.
Westworld stars Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Thandie Newton, Jeffrey Wright, and Ed Harris. The rest of the cast was previously announced. The show was written by Jonathan Nolan (Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Person of Interest) and is produced by J.J. Abrams.
According to HBO, the show is set at “the intersection of the near future and the reimagined past”, and that “it explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how noble or depraved, can be indulged.”
It is based on the 1973 film written by Michael Crichton; the story takes place in an American Old West-themed amusement park where robots bring to life the customers’ fantasies. The film famously starred Yul Brynner. Anthony Hopkins will play Westworld’s complicated creative director, Dr. Robert Ford.
Watch out for Westworld this fall on HBO.
