New Game of Thrones photos show King’s Landing

Promotional photos for the upcoming episode of Game of Thrones show Margaery Tyrell coming back into the spotlight, as well as King’s Landing.

Six new promotional photos have been released for the sixth episode of the sixth season of Game of Thrones, according to a report by IGN. These photos show Margaery Tyrell, Jaime Lannister, Arya Stark, Tommen Baratheon, Daenerys Targaryen, and Daario Naharis.

The characters and the story in King’s Landing were not shown in the previous episode, no doubt to give the show room to breathe and to focus on other storylines. But it looks like the sixth episode will bring King’s Landing back to center stage, showing Margaery Tyrell emerging into the light from a dark cell to the front of the Sept of Baelor, where the High Sparrow also stands, about to make an important announcement. This will, no doubt, be the beginning of Margaery’s walk of atonement, alluded to in episode four.

But with tensions building up between the royal family and the Faith Militant, a bloody confrontation is nigh and there will surely be trouble as the Kingsguard faces off against the horde of religious fanatics. With the photos of the Lannisters, it looks like the big clash will happen in this episode, one that promises to be particularly intense considering the Lannisters have recently formed a temporary alliance with the Tyrells, having a common enemy.

Based on the photos, there will apparently be more time spent with Arya and her mission in Braavos, as well as with Daenerys as she marches triumphantly back to Mereen with her new Dothraki army.

The synopsis for the episode, entitled “Blood of My Blood”, reads: “An old foe comes back into the picture. Gilly meets Sam’s family. Arya faces a difficult choice. Jaime faces off against the High Sparrow.”

Game of Thrones season six airs Sundays on HBO.
