‘Locke & Key’ TV Series In Development

Writer Joe Hill’s critically acclaimed horror series Locke & Key is now back in development as a television series. Originally, FOX had attempted to develop a series based on the property back in 2011. A pilot was shot and you can even still watch the original series trailer online. While the FOX series did look promising their plans fell through, and Locke & Key fans never got the series they were hoping for.

Now in 2016, IDW Publishing has taken it upon themselves to develop their own Locke & Key television series, lining up Joe Hill as writer and producer. Here’s what Hill had to say about the upcoming potential series:

I love this story. The seven years I spent working on Locke & Key was the happiest creative experience of my life and there still isn’t a day when I don’t think about those characters and miss visiting with them. The six books of the series are very like six seasons of a cable TV series and so it feels only natural to bring that world to the little screen and to see if we can’t scare the pants off viewers everywhere.

Let’s hope this series goes ahead as planned. Locke & Key was an amazing series that would lend itself well as a television property. If you haven’t read Locke & Key I’d highly recommend it. The series, which has since concluded, has been collected and can be read in 6 trade paperback volumes.
