Game of Thrones Season 6 details revealed

Game of Thrones s6 premiereIn an official press release by HBO, the set up for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones was unveiled.

The award-winning fantasy epic will be returning for its sixth ten-episode season this April on HBO. This season is particularly fascinating because it will cover territory not yet written in George R.R. Martin’s book series. So book-readers and non-book readers alike will have no idea of what is to come.

And everyone involved in making Game of Thrones has been extra careful about not revealing spoilers on set. But that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about the fates of their favorite characters. With the season premiere in less than a month, the anticipation and excitement continue to rise among hard core fans.

The official press release provided this description of the upcoming season:

“Following the shocking developments at the conclusion of season five, including Jon Snow’s bloody fate at the hands of Castle Black mutineers, Daenerys’ near-demise at the fighting pits of Meereen, and Cersei’s public humiliation in the streets of King’s Landing, survivors from all parts of Westeros and Essos regroup to press forward, inexorably, towards their uncertain individual fates. Familiar faces will forge new alliances to bolster their strategic chances at survival, while new characters will emerge to challenge the balance of power in the east, west, north and south.”

Granted, not a lot of juicy details were revealed and much of this is already expected after the ending of the last season. But the complex story continues to fascinate people from all over the world as it widens its scope and promises bigger and bloodier battle scenes and darker political intrigue. Not to mention dragons.

The synopsis for the season premiere, entitled “The Red Woman”, leaves no doubt as to the fate of everyone’s favorite Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch:

“Jon Snow is dead. Daenerys meets a strong man. Cersei sees her daughter again.”

The press release also included the announcement of the new cast members for the sixth season: Pilou Asbaek, Essie Davis, Souad Faress, James Faulkner, Richard E. Grant, Ian McShane, Joe Naufau, Freddie Stroma, and Max von Sydow.
