First Teaser Trailer Released for ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’

Rogue One CastThe first official teaser trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has been released online. Set to release in theaters this December 2016, one year after the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rogue One is directed by Gareth Edwards, whose previous credits include Godzilla (2014) and Monsters, and written by visual effects supervisor John Knoll (Tomorrowland) and Gary Whita (The Book of Eli). The film stars Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Diego Luna, Forest Whitaker, and Felicity Jones as the film’s main protagonist, Jyn Erso.

Taking place prior to the events of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, Rogue One follows a team of Rebels set out on a mission to steal the plans for the Empire’s Death Star. Judging from this first trailer, Rogue One looks like it will have a very different feel from its predecessors. Also, unlike its predecessors, Rogue One seemingly won’t feature Jedi or lightsaber duels. This makes sense considering at this point in Star Wars history Luke Skywalker is still moisture farming on Tatooine. That being said there’s always a chance Darth Vader might make an appearance.

Now check out the official teaser trailer below and feel free to let us know your thoughts on the upcoming film in the comments.
