Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones has officially been cast as Daniel Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist, in Marvel’s upcoming Iron Fist series set to stream exclusively on Netflix. According to Marvel.com the character’s origins on the series will mirror that of his comic book counterpart, when it’s stated that he returns to New York City after being missing for several years and “fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.”

Executive Producer and Head of Marvel TV, Jeph Loeb, had this to say about the casting of Finn Jones and his place among the rest of the Defenders which now includes him, Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, and Mike Colter as Luke Cage:

Finn wonderfully blends confidence with vulnerability, making him the perfect choice as he struggles to find his place in the world. Now that we’ve found our Danny Rand, we’ve completed our principal cast for the upcoming Defenders on Netflix and we are thrilled to continue to show audiences unexplored corners of the Marvel Universe.

As of right now there is no word on when Iron Fist will begin shooting and who else will join the cast. Although we still have a lot to look forward to before Iron Fist hits Netflix, including a second season of Daredevil, premiering this Friday, and a first season of Luke Cage.

So, what do you think of this latest casting decision from Marvel. Do you think Finn Jones will make a solid addition to Marvel’s Netflix universe? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
