Watch the Game of Thrones season 6 trailer

Daenerys Targaryen Game of Thrones S6The full trailer for the upcoming season of Game of Thrones has finally been released.

After the short, intriguing teaser set in the House of Black and White was shown last month, a longer and more exciting clip has been released. It’s a busy minute and a half, showing glimpses of many of the main characters and revealing certain threads that will be pursued as the season progresses.

Cersei Lannister Game of Thrones S6Among the scenes shown in the trailer are:

– various characters standing over the corpse of Jon Snow and mourning his death
– a ship from Dorne (most likely with Jaime Lannister and the corpse of his daughter Myrcella on board) returning to King’s Landing
– Daenerys Targaryen, disheveled and alone, a captive of the Dothraki she met at the end of last season
– dragons flying
– various armies gathering and fighting
– someone flying out a window
– Cersei Lannister challenging the religious fanatics who had shamed her last season with the reanimated corpse of The Mountain. “I choose violence,” Cersei proclaims defiantly.
– a grown up Bran Stark facing a White Walker
Sansa Stark Game of Thrones S6– Sansa Stark standing proud and free
– Arya Stark, blind and wandering alone.

“You’re in the great game now,” Tyrion Lannister warns someone, “and the great game is terrifying.”

Many characters also make brief appearances in the trailer including Margaery Tyrell, Brienne of Tarth, Theon Greyjoy, Ramsay Bolton, Jorah Mormont, the High Sparrow, Tommen Baratheon, Petyr Baelish, Yara Greyjoy, and Melisandre.

As the trailer reveals, the next season will be thrilling and eventful, full of the action and intrigue fans have come to expect of Game of Thrones. Every action has a heavy consequence and we have yet to see who will pay the price this time.  Season six has been highly anticipated by fans because it will be exploring new territory, since the last season already caught up with the five published books of A Song of Ice and Fire. With George R.R. Martin still busy writing the sixth book, the show will move ahead.

The trailer ends with Davos Seaworth standing by Jon Snow’s dead body. Davos unsheathes Snow’s sword, Longclaw, and prepares to use it against some foes.

“I’ve never been much of a fighter,” Davos admits, “apologies for what you’re about to see.”

He might as well be warning the audience of what is to come on the show.

Game of Thrones season 6 premieres on April 24 on HBO.
