Sophie Turner drops Game of Thrones spoiler at the Oscars

Sophie Turner Oscars 2016The Game of Thrones star may have inadvertently revealed something about the upcoming season of the epic fantasy drama.

During a red carpet interview at this year’s Oscars, Sophie Turner accidentally mentioned what may be construed as a minor spoiler about her character for the sixth season of Game of Thrones. She suggests that Sansa Stark will survive the season which, considering the death toll of major characters on the show, may already be considered a bit of a spoiler.

She described going through all the scripts for the sixth season and seeing “death, death, death” and then, to her relief, seeing her character’s fate and saying “okay, I’m good for this season.”

In a previous interview at the Screen Actors’ Guild Awards party, Turner also let slip some things about her character’s arc this coming season. She said:

“I mean this season is a really, really big one for Sansa. It’s probably her best season yet. It’s her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it’s really good.”

Sansa Stark Game of Thrones season 6Season five was a particularly harsh one for Sansa and considering the gruesome nature of this show, that’s saying something. She escaped her imprisonment at King’s Landing to return to her old home in Winterfell, only to be forced to marry the psychotic Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon). Her fate at the end of the season was left ambiguous but Turner had teased that fans will be “finally getting that storyline that you’ve been craving for the past five seasons.”

She also added, speaking more about what to look forward to in the season:

“It was amazing because the past five seasons, it feels like it’s been building up and up to that. You can only suffer so much before she finally gets her, the respect she deserves…

I mean this season there’s like so many shocks, it’s massive. It’s the biggest season yet. And just like in terms of character development, so many people’s shorelines, I’m so excited for. I’m so excited to see Alfie’s (Allen, who plays Theon Greyjoy) one this season. It’s going to be good.”

Game of Thrones season 6 premieres on April 24 on HBO.
