Daisy Ridley as Rey (Star Wars: The Force Awakens)
For those that love fantasy, horror and science fiction, the Saturn Awards are for you.
Yesterday (Wednesday February 24th) the 42nd Annual Saturn Awards Nominations list was revealed. Not surprisingly, Star Wars: The Force Awakens dominates with 15 nominations. These include: Best Science Fiction Film, Best Actor (Harrison Ford), Best Actress (Daisy Ridley), Best Supporting Actor(s) (John Boyega & Adam Driver), Best Supporting Actress(es) (Carrie Fisher & Lupita Nyong’o), and so on.
That wasn’t the only major film to score big with nominations. Guillermo Del Toro’s horror film Crimson Peak, and George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road raked in 9 nominations.
We can’t forget our sci-fi/fantasy and horror TV shows! AMC’s The Walking Dead scored seven nominations, and its spinoff, Fear of the Walking Dead, three. Other shows to receive nominations include: HBO’s Game of Thrones (5 nominations), NBC’s Hannibal, CBS’ Supergirl, FOX’s Wayward Pines and Netflix’s Daredevil, all with four nominations each. Actually, what’s interesting about this particular Saturn Awards is its new category: Best New Media Television.
With everyone “netflix and chilling” these days, many Netflix and Amazon original shows were bound to be nominated. And that they were. Among those nominees were: Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Man in the High Castle and Bosch.
The full list of the nominations can be viewed below (from the press release itself) or via Saturn Awards new YouTube Channel!

I call total BS that John e is only considered a supporting actor in TFA. I know that Harrison Ford is Harrison Ford, but Finn had more scenes, and more scenes relevant to the overall plot, than Han. Finn and Rey are the two leads, and it’s total crap that Boyega is only considered a supporting, along with Lupita Nyong’o and Carrie Fisher, who each only had like 3-4 scenes in the whole film between the two of them.
