The True Blood star will be the lead of SyFy’s new Van Helsing series.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the former werewolf will now be a vampire hunter as she stars as Vanessa Helsing, a descendant from the lineage of the legendary vampire hunter who must take charge in a world overrun by vampires.
As previously reported, “this 13-episode series will focus on Vanessa Helsing, the daughter of renowned vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing, who is resurrected five years in the future into a world where vampires have taken charge. But she discovers that she possesses a unique power over them and so becomes ‘humanity’s last hope’ in an epic struggle to take back what was lost.”

Neil LaBute, EP and showrunner, told EW:
“We’ve been extremely blessed to get such a wonderfully talented and diverse cast for Van Helsing. We have an amazing lead actress in Kelly Overton and we’ve built a brilliant supporting cast around her. I’m very excited to begin the journey of Van Helsing with this outstanding group of actors.”
