The newest Game of Thrones teaser, which is set in the Hall of Faces in the Houses of Black and White, features several characters, or rather, the faces of several notably deceased characters from previous seasons making an eerie kind of reappearance.
The likes of of the doomed Starks – Ned, Robb, Catelyn, and, of course, Jon Snow – are shown as faces/masks displayed in the Hall of Faces, while some of their most memorable lines echo in the dimly-lit hall. There is also a brief glimpse of the terrible King Joffrey and the Wildling archer, Ygritte.
The minute-long teaser does not reveal much about the mysterious upcoming season of Game of Thrones, but it does bring a sense of foreboding that is not unfamiliar to fans of the show. Since the last season’s events finally caught up with the events of the latest book, A Dance with Dragons, how the series moves forward remains a well-kept secret. And one that fans are all eager to discover when the series returns in a few months.
“The Long Night is coming,” Jon Snow’s voice ominously utters in the last words of the trailer, as other characters’ faces are shown, “and the Dead come with it.”
Game of Thrones season six will premiere on April 24 on HBO.
