First ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Trailer Released Online

20th Century Fox has released the first official trailer for the next Bryan Singer-directed X-Men installment, X-Men: Apocalypse. Those familiar with the leaked trailer from San Diego Comic-Con International earlier this year will probably recognize a lot of the footage, as this is pretty much the same trailer, but with a few changes. Now we get to see it in glorious HD. Check it out:

Following the events of 2014’s X-Men Days of Future Past, Apocalypse sees the return of several characters from that movie and its predecessor X-Men: First Class. A lot of new faces appear in this trailer including Jean Grey, Storm, Cyclops, Angel, and a very comic book accurate Jubilee. From the footage seen it’s safe to say we will get to see an intense battle against what could be the franchise’s most menacing villain to date. That villain being Apocalypse, the world’s first, oldest, and most powerful mutant. Unfortunately, I can’t see there being too much suspense accompanying this battle, as we all know the X-Men will turn out fine based on the final future scenes we saw in Days of Future Past. That being said, some still may not make it out alive.

X-Men: Apocalypse stars returning actors Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, and Lucas Till as Havok, as well as newcomers Olivia Munn as Psylocke, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Lana Condor as Jubilee, Alexandra Shipp as Storm, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler, Ben Hardy as Angel, and Oscar Isaac as the villain Apocalypse.

X-Men Apocalypse is set to release in theaters May 27, 2016. Check out a few screenshots from the trailer below and feel free to let us know what you thought of the new trailer in the comments.
