Cate Blanchett in talks for Thor: Ragnarok

Cate Blanchett The HobbitAward-winning actress Cate Blanchett may be joining the third Thor film to play one of the female leads, according to a report by Variety.

Blanchett, known for portraying Queen Elizabeth I in Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age and Lady Galadriel in both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies, is in talks to play a part in the third Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok. She was recently nominated for Best Actress in both SAG and the Golden Globes for her turn in Carol.

Marvel has not yet released details on the role she will be playing in the comic sequel, though some fans speculate that she might be playing the main villain of the film.

Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as the mighty Norse God and Tom Hiddleston as his mischievous brother, Loki. Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk is also set to make an appearance in the film. It will be directed by New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi.

Thor: Ragnarok is set to be released on November 3, 2017.
