Watch the first Game of Thrones season 6 teaser

Jon Snow Game of ThronesHBO has just released the first intriguing teaser for the sixth season of Game of Thrones. Soon after the first poster for the upcoming season was unveiled, even more controversy spiked over the death (or survival) of Jon Snow.

“We watch, we listen, and we remember,” the Three-Eyed Raven (played by Max Von Sydow) says gravely at the beginning of the clip. “The past is already written. The ink is dry.”

The new clip also heavily features Kit Harington’s character, lingering heavily on Jon Snow as he stood at the end of the penultimate episode of season 5, “Hardhome.” This is followed by flashes of the most shocking moments on the show so far, all in quick succession, including several major character deaths. The brief montage shows the deaths of Jon Snow and several of the Starks (Ned, Catelyn, Robb), as well as Joffrey Baratheon’s death, Arya Stark’s going blind, Jaime Lannister’s hand being chopped off, Daenerys and her dragons, the Night’s King, Jojen Reed’s death, Littlefinger kissing Sansa, the forging of Oathkeeper, the attack on Hardhome, and finally, Bran Stark having one of his visions.

“They have no idea what’s going to happen,” Bran says ominously at the end of the teaser, and this may as well apply to all the fans of the show.

Having caught up with the events of the five published books of A Song of Ice and Fire, the television series will be exploring new and unknown territory for its sixth season. Even the book readers among fans can only speculate on what they can expect to watch, especially since the show has often made adaptation changes from George R. R. Martin’s source material. The plot for the next season has been a heavily guarded secret, to ensure that no spoilers are leaked and that the audience may fully enjoy the new episodes.

As the teaser reveals, the sixth season of Game of Thrones will air next April on HBO.
