Gotham casts Lori Petty and Michael Bowen

Lori Petty joins GothamOrange is the New Black star Lori Petty will be joining the latter half of Gotham‘s second season in a mysterious guest role, Variety reports. She will be joining the DC drama when it returns from hiatus early next year.

According to Variety, Petty will be playing the role of Jeri, “the flamboyant and enigmatic hostess of an underground club where mass murder and art are celebrated in equal measure.” Petty’s character will be assisting young Bruce Wayne in his hunt for his parents’ killer, but will be a little reluctant about cooperating with Ben McKenzie’s Jim Gordon. No further details have been revealed about her character so far.

Michael BowenAnother new addition to the Gotham cast is Michael Bowen (Breaking Bad), who will be playing Patrick “Matches” Malone according to a report on Bowen’s character is described as:

“One of Gotham’s deadliest killers… a weathered, philosophical hitman who may be the triggerman behind one of the most important crimes in Gotham’s history.”

Malone’s name was mentioned earlier this season as the man responsible for the murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne, though whether this is true is yet to be revealed. But this is the biggest clue Bruce has so far about the death of his parents, and one that he will most likely pursue with tenacity as the show progresses. In the comics, Matches Malone is the alias used by Batman whenever he tried to infiltrate the Gotham underworld.

Petty and Bowen are only the latest additions to the ever growing cast of the DC drama, joining Nathan Darrow and B.D. Wong as Mr. Freeze and Dr. Hugo Strange respectively. Darrow’s character already made a brief cameo, while Dr. Hugo Strange was also mentioned during the show’s midseason finale.

The second season of Gotham will return on February 29, 2016, with 11 more episodes airing every Monday on Fox.
