Once Upon a Time casts Hercules and Meg

Once Upon a Time casts Hercules and MegAccording to a report by TVLine, Jonathan Whitesell (iZombie) and Kacey Rohl (Hannibal, The Killing) have been cast as Hercules and Meg, two well-loved Disney characters with origins in Greek mythology. Their are set to appear on the 13th episode of the current Once Upon a Time season, titled “Labor of Love.”

Their addition to the growing cast of Once Upon a Time confirms that the second half of Season 5 will truly be using elements from Greek mythology to enliven the plot. The current storyline deals mostly with the origins of the Dark One, but with a lot of Arthurian legend integrated into the show’s own mythos. But earlier this season certain figures from Greek mythology already made an appearance, such as the Fury, and allusions to the Underworld have been made as well.

TVLine also reports that Bailee Madison (The Good Witch) will be reprising her role as a young Snow White and will be appearing in the same episode. The last time we saw young Snow was way back in March 2013.

Hercules-and-Meg- DisneyDetailed character descriptions for Hercules and Meg were recently revealed  to TVLine:

Hercules is “a dashing, strapping young man,” “single-minded in his pursuit of his destiny: to be the greatest hero who ever lived. All that changes, however, when he falls in love with a beautiful princess.”

Meg is”a plucky young adventurer with a sly sense of humor and a tough, no-nonsense spirit. And though she has spent a long time languishing in a dungeon, her inner spark has not burned out. Rather, it is waiting for the right opportunity to shine brightly again.”

So we can watch out for Hercules and Meg to join the magical adventures when Once Upon a Time returns from its winter break next year.
