More familiar faces will be joining the special Once Upon a Time episode in a season filled with reunions.
Robbie Kay and Giancarlo Esposito will be reprising their roles as Peter Pan and Sidney Glass/the Magic Mirror respectively for the fairy tale show’s special 100th episode, according to a report on Entertainment Weekly. This news comes right after Barbara Hershey was announced to be returning for the episode as well, reprising her role as Cora/The Queen of Hearts.
ETOnline has also just reported that Emma Caulfield (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) will be reprising her role as the Blind Witch for the 100th episode. This character made a memorable appearance back in season one as the children-eating witch who lived in a gingerbread house and who was defeated by Hansel and Gretel.
No details have been revealed about the plot of this jam-packed, landmark episode, or how these characters (some of whom have already been killed, but that’s never been much of an issue for this show) will be integrated into the already complex plot. But with all these fan favorites returning, it is sure to be a memorable affair, one that fans of the show are already looking forward to.
Giancarlo Esposito’s (Breaking Bad) character, Sidney Glass/The Magic Mirror, has been around since season one and most recently appeared in the first half of season 4, conspiring with the Snow Queen against Regina. This plan ultimately failed and his fate was left uncertain.
Robbie Kay’s Peter Pan was the major villain of the first half of season 3, manipulating the heroes as they searched for Henry in Neverland. He was also revealed to be Rumplestiltskin’s father. Rumple had to kill both himself and Pan in order to save Storybrooke. Kay is currently starring in Heroes Reborn.
The fifth season of Once Upon a Time will be filled with more character reunions with the return of Jamie Chung as Mulan, Meghan Ory as Ruby/Red Riding Hood, and David Anders as Dr. Whale/Victor Frankenstein.
Amidst the return of many old characters, a new one has also been added. In a report by TVLine, Greg Germann (Ally McBeal) has been cast in an enigmatic role, referred to only as “The Distinguished Gentleman.” No details have been revealed about the character other than his being described as “a mysterious figure with god-like powers who is always clad in a perfectly tailored suit,” someone who can “strike fear into people just by being friendly”, and “the last person you ever want to share a drink with.” Germann is due to make his first appearance on the show in the 100th episode.
This latest addition to the cast is in line with the comment show creator Eddy Kitsis made at New York Comic Con about the second half of the season being “hell,” and the speculations that the Underworld and certain figures of Greek mythology will be involved in the next adventures.
Once Upon a Time airs on Sundays on ABC.
