Sherlock Christmas Special title revealed

Sherlock The Abominable BrideThe upcoming Victorian-era special will be called Sherlock: The Abominable Bride, according to a report on Deadline.com. The 90-minute special will premiere in the U.K. and the U.S. on New Year’s Day 2016. This will be the first time the series has ever premiered on the same day in both countries, great news for U.S. fans who have had to endure a delay before catching up with the their favorite consulting detective.

The special is set in 1890s London and stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. It will also feature series regulars Amanda Abbington as Mary Morstan, Rupert Graves as Inspector Lestrade, and Una Stubbs as Mrs. Hudson.

Sherlock: The Abominable Bride is also due for theatrical release in selected cinemas around the world, although the complete list of participating countries has not yet been released.

And the much anticipated season 4 is also in the works, with BBC tweeting that show creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss are “busy writing away right now.” PBS likewise announced that shooting these new episodes should begin this spring. No airdate has been announced for this upcoming season.
