NYCC 2015: New Trailers Released for ‘Arrow’ and ‘The Flash’

Using New York Comic Con 2015 as their outlet, Warner Bros. Television has released brand new trailers for Arrow and The Flash. While each trailer contains already-seen footage from the first episode of each show’s respective new season, there is still plenty of new footage to be seen.

From the Arrow trailer we are able to see a little more of Neal McDonough’s Damien Darhk display his mystical abilities, Star Trek: Voyager‘s Jeri Ryan make her way to Star City as new mayoral candidate Jessica Danforth, the return of Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), a.k.a. Canary, and the introduction of Alexander Calvert as a new Star City villain called Anarky. Additionally, we see both Ollie and Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) in trouble. It seems the Green Arrow will eventually be captured by Damien Darhk, and that Ray is alive, but seemingly lost and in need of Felicity’s help.

Other than those few highlights we are also reminded that Echo Kellum will make his way onto the series as Curtis Holt, a.k.a. Mr. Terrific, and Matt Ryan will make his way from NBC’s short-lived series Constantine as John Constantine himself.

Over in Central City, the trailer for The Flash also gave us plenty of new footage to get excited for, introducing some new villains, including Kimiyo Hoshi/Doctor Light, Sand Demon, and of course, Zoom. Unlike the yellow-suited Zoom from the comics most are used to, The Flash‘s version of Zoom will be dressed in all black. While we don’t know the identity of this new speedster, he will be voiced by horror icon Tony Todd (Candyman). Jay Garrick, The Flash of Earth-2, gives some insight into Zoom’s motives, stating “he will do whatever it takes to ensure he’s the only speedster in any world.”

In addition to seeing these new villains, which are mostly compiled of meta-humans from Earth-2, we also see a glimpse of One Tree Hill‘s Shantel VanSanten as Patty Spivot, a character with deep roots in the comics, and Ciara Renée as Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl before she makes her way to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Also, with Ronnie Raymond apparently deceased, it looks like Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber) will need a new partner to share his Firestorm powers with. That partner will come in the form of Jax Jackson, played by Franz Drameh, who is said to make his first appearance in this season’s eighth episode.

Based on these new trailers there seems to be a lot for fans to get excited for. With each show containing some focus on The Atom, Hawkgirl, and Firestorm, these current seasons should help get us ready for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, which premieres mid-season. Check out a few screenshots from the trailers below and feel free to let us know what you think in the comments.
