The Jungle Book trailer released

The Jungle Book TrailerThe first teaser trailer for Disney’s live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book has been released.

The short, action-packed clip showcases various scenes of young Mowgli (Neel Sethi) gazing in awe at the vastness of the jungle around him, looking both fascinated and frightened by the various wild creatures he encounters there. We get glimpses of familiar characters such as Baloo, Bagheera, and Shere Khan, though we only hear the ominous voice of Scarlett Johansson’s Kaa.

“Let go of your fear now and trust in me,” she hisses suspiciously.

From the exhilarating trailer this already looks like a darker and more epic take on the beloved story, contrasted with the relatively light-hearted and musical tone of the animated classic. The latter is alluded to only at the end of the teaser when we see Mowgli sitting on Baloo while the bear whistles “The Bare Necessities.”

This adaptation features the voices of Bill Murray as Baloo, Ben Kingsley as Bagheera, Idris Elba as Shere Khan, Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha, Scarlett Johansson as Kaa, and Christopher Walken as King Louie.

The Jungle Book is scheduled to be released on April 15, 2016.
