Game of Thrones casts Richard E. Grant

Richard E. GrantRichard E. Grant will play an unspecified role as he joins the growing ensemble of Game of Thrones season six, Variety reports.

Grant, known for appearing in numerous films and television series including Doctor Who and Downton Abbey, is the latest addition to the enormous cast of the fantasy epic. According to Variety, Game of Thrones was added to Grant’s online resume (and then quickly removed.) Although no clues have been revealed about the role he will be playing on the show, the information indicated in the director’s column beside the role (“various”) suggests that he will appear in multiple episodes.

Grant joins the ranks of other new cast members for the intriguing next season, including Ian McShane, Max Von Sydow, Pilou Asbaek, and Freddie Stroma. The plot of the season is a well-kept secret since the show will be covering material beyond the five published novels. Nonetheless, certain characters from the books who have not yet appeared on the show are expected to be cast.

Game of Thrones season six will air April next year.
