The second season finale of The Originals ended with the Mikaelson family finally destroying their crazy aunt Dahlia (and mother, Esther) in an epic showdown. But as usual, things aren’t quite as peaceful in New Orleans as they’d like.
As a vampire, you’re probably at some point going to be turning people into vampires; the Mikaelson siblings (Klaus, Rebekah, and Elijah) are no exception to this. Enter ‘The Trinity’. The first turned vampires Rebekah, Klaus, and Elijah sired.
When turning vampires, you definitely create a sort of bond between one another. For some this could be more severe. And there is the whole “leaving them in the dust” thing that Klaus loves to do to each vampire he turns (except Marcel). In the season three premiere, the viewers will meet Lucien, Klaus’ progeny, played by Andrew Lees. While it might be similar to meeting an old friend, the vamps are more likely in town for revenge than anything else. Actor Joseph Morgan talked about Klaus’ latest ordeal with Entertainment Weekly:
“We learned how to make vampires when my sire was created. There’s definitely a bond there. We owe each other a lot. There’s also this element that it’s not just the three of them but they’re in contact with a lot of the sire line for each of us so it’s like, ‘Hey, remember us? All those vampires that you turned who you’ve now abandoned? Well guess what, we’re not too happy about that and here’s why.'”
How do you think the Lucien/Klaus reunion will play out? Considering that Lucien is described as a “smart, charming, wildly successful guy who prides himself on being two steps ahead of everyone,” I’m gonna say that Klaus might have some serious competition ahead.
No official word has stated who the other Trinity members are. However, another new vampire, Aurora (played by Rebecca Breeds), will also be strolling down the French Quarter. Could this be Rebekah or Elijah’s first sired vampire, perhaps?
The Originals‘ third season premieres Thursday October 8th at 9/8c on the CW, right after The Vampire Diaries.
