Natalie Dormer’s The Scandalous Lady W airs this month

The Scandalous Lady W Natalie DormerWhile the fate of her Game of Thrones character Queen Margaery (who was last seen languishing in the Red Keep) remains unknown, Natalie Dormer will still be gracing our screens in the upcoming BBC Two period drama, The Scandalous Lady W.

Dormer stars as Seymour, Lady Worsley, whose decision to escape her troubled marriage and elope with her husband’s best friend has severe consequences, including a public trial brought upon by her influential husband Sir Richard Worsley, played by Shaun Evans (Endeavour). Lady W’s lover, Captain George Bisset, is played by Aneurin Barnard (Cilla, The White Queen).

The official synopsis of the show reads:

As this extraordinary true story unfolds, Lady Worsley takes the brave decision to publicly expose the secrets of her marriage. The scandalous courtroom revelations challenge the hypocrisy of the law that brands a wife the property of her husband, calling into question the whole concept of a woman’s ‘worth’.

The 90-minute drama was written by David Eldridge and based on Hallie Rubehold’s book, Lady Worsley’s Whim. The book was inspired by the portrait of Lady Worsley in Harewood house depicting her in a bright red riding habit.

The Scandalous Lady W will air on August 20 on BBC Two.
