CW Developing Little Women as Dystopian Series

The CW's Little Women dystopian version will not look like this. At all.

The CW’s Little Women dystopian version will not look like this. At all.

Little Women, updated and with an edge? Why not? From the network that brought you a new spin on history with Reign, Deadline reports that the CW is pointing their magic hit wand away from superheroes and vamps and things that go bump in the night for a “hyper-stylized, gritty adaptation of the 1868 novel by Louisa May Alcott, in which disparate half-sisters Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy band together in order to survive the dystopic streets of Philadelphia and unravel a conspiracy that stretches far beyond anything they have ever imagined – all while trying not to kill each other in the process.”

Reportedly, the creators are not planning to stay faithful to the book, which doesn’t seem to be all that revolutionary an admission. If they’re going that far off book, I’m assuming Laurie will be a robot.

The network has put the drama in development, from writer Alexis Jolly, NCIS co-star Michael Weatherly, and CBS TV Studios. If it moves ahead, Little Women would be ready for the 2015-2016 pilot season.
