The Flash Season 2: New Characters and a Look Back!

Teddy Sears joins The Flash as Jay Garrick

The mega-hit superhero action drama The Flash is preparing to take its sophomore season by storm. Three new characters (though these characters are familiar to DC Comics fans) are entering the mix in Central City, joining The Fastest Man Alive in his fight again crime. The panel at San Diego Comic Con gave fans the scoop on the new folks, as well as a fantastic highlight reel to whet your appetite for season 2!

First off – how about the Big Bad for the second season? Challenging The Flash will be none other than Zoom – a fellow faster than Barry (Grant Gustin), faster than Reverse-Flash, and someone very hard for our hero to catch. No casting announcement yet, but we’ll be waiting with bated breath.

Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex, Raising the Bar) will join the cast as Jay Garrick, whom comic book fans will recognize as the first Flash! For the television series, Jay is a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and company of yet another impending danger!

Shantel Van Santen as Patty, a potential love interest for Barry.

Shantel VanSanten (The Messengers, The Final Destination, One Tree Hill) will arrive on The Flash as Patty Spivot. Patty is a cop who will partner with Detective Joe West (Jesse L. Martin); she’s a science geek who seems like a good match for Barry Allen. Patty’s got a thing for metahumans, and of course has no clue her new crush has a secret life.

No one should be surprised that there are romantic complications for star-crossed Barry and Iris (Candice Patton). The course of true love doesn’t run smooth for superheroes; more often than not, it’s a road paved with explosions, kidnapping, time travel, and secret identities!
