The CW’s Arrow returns Wednesday, October 7 for what producer Marc Guggenheim states will be a season lighter in tone. Joining the cast of the upcoming fourth season will be Neal McDonough, who is no stranger to live action comic book roles having appeared in Captain America: The First Avenger and Marvel’s Agent Carter.

Neal McDonough will portray season four’s new big bad, Damien Darhk, who was teased and name-dropped last season. An adversary of Ra’s al Ghul, Darhk is described as “a mysterious and sophisticated villain” and leader of what is known as the Clandestine Group.

The short-lived DC Comics villain, Damien Darhk, created by writer Devin Grayson and artist Mark Buckingham made his first appearance in 1999’s Titans #1 and last appeared in the 12th issue of that same series. In the comics he had a connection to the criminal organization known as H.I.V.E., an organization teased since Arrow‘s second season having been responsible for the assassination of John Diggle’s brother. Whether Darhk’s connection to H.I.V.E. will be addressed in season four is uncertain.

So, what do you think about Neal McDonough joining the cast of Arrow as Damien Darhk? Do you think he’ll make a good villain on Arrow‘s fourth season? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
