First Look at Sherlock’s Victorian Adventure

First Look at Sherlock Christmas SpecialA picture from the upcoming Christmas Special has been released ahead of the Sherlock Comic Con panel showing the two stars, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman, posing in very stylish garb. They are looking straight at us, but what clues does this new image reveal about how they ended up in Victorian London?

We still have half a year before the 90-minute special airs and we still do not know how this trip back in time to Victorian London will come about. Fans have been speculating for months and various theories have been thrown around (from actual time travel to a bizarre kind of flashback or dream sequence) but none have been confirmed.

Show creator and executive producer Steven Moffat talked about the highly anticipated and very mysterious show in Entertainment Weekly during an earlier event.

“The special is its own thing,” Moffat said, We wouldn’t have done the story we were doing, and the way we’re doing it, if we didn’t have this special. It’s not part of the run of three episodes… It’s Victorian. [Co-creator Mark Gatiss] and me, we wanted to do this, but it had to be a special, it had to be a separate entity on its own. It’s kind of its own little bubble.”

Hear from Moffat himself as well as executive producer Sue Vertue and star Rupert Graves (DI Lestrade) during the Sherlock panel at Comic Con on July 9 (3:45 p.m., Ballroom 20).

Sherlock will return to our screens this Christmas.
