Élodie Yung is Elektra for Daredevil Season 2

Elodie-Yung-ELEKTRAThe highly anticipated second season of the Marvel/Netflix Daredevil series has recently begun production, as well as added some new cast members. First, there was Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead), who will be playing The Punisher. And now, we have Élodie Yung (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) as the Greek-born assassin Elektra, a character who was briefly mentioned in season one.

Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb, expressed his excitement about Yung’s casting in the following statement:

“After a worldwide search, we found in Élodie the perfect actress to embody both Elektra’s impressive and deadly physicality, as well as her psychological complexity. Paired with Charlie as Matt Murdock, the two will bring one of the most beloved and tumultuous comic book relationships to life with all the accompanying sparks and spectacular action sequences the show is known for.”

Elektra is one of the most intriguing characters from the Daredevil canon. She was last portrayed on screen by Jennifer Garner in the 2003 Daredevil film and the 2005 spinoff, Elektra.

Yung will be joining returning cast members Elden Henson, Deborah Ann Woll, and Rosario Dawson and will be next seen playing the goddess Hathor in the upcoming adventure epic film, Gods of Egypt.

Daredevil season 2 will be back early next year.
